STORY TIME: Want to hear about the stupidest thing I've done traveling so far? 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

To kick off our Greek Islands trip, we had a 3 hour ferry ride from Athens to Paros. Between packing, wrapping up work, and saying goodbye to friends we only got about an hour or two of sleep the night before.

I was definitely ready to sleep the entire ferry ride because I was EXHAUSTED. So we had all of our luggage and I tucked my little red bag into the corner so it would be safe as I zonked out.

When we arrived in Paros, I was still a little groggy and totally overwhelmed with how much was going on in the Ferry! This was my first Greek Island ferry so it was crazy crowded and SO BUSY.

Crowds of us were ready to disembark the ship, so we gathered up our belongings, herded like cattle, and went into the Old Town area of Paros.

About 5-7 minutes after getting off the boat - my stomach dropped. I left my purse ON THE FERRY. 😩

It had everything in it too - my passport, my AirPods, my camera, cash, and wallet. I felt SICK.

I physically ran back to the Ferry and they were minutes away from leaving for Santorini, so no one else was allowed on. I started hysterically sobbing.

There was a man from the tour office there who (although was a bit condescending... lol) helped us call the boat and see if they could find it.

We, thankfully, remembered all of the details of where we were sitting and they said over the phone that they were able to locate the bag. However, it was 12 PM and the ship wasn't coming back until 7 PM!

Long story short, I lived in a bout of complete uncertainty during that entire day, but they held my bag at reception so I could come to collect it right away when the ferry circled back.

This took a lot of trust and surrender on my part, but I am SO GRATEFUL they had it and that it all worked out.

And it gave us the chance to explore Old Town Paros which was adorable. 🌞

This is the first time anything like this has happened in our many months of traveling, so I'm SUPER thankful it turned out okay. But this is definitely your sign to pay attention (and take a picture) of where you're sitting during your travels! That info may come in handy again. 😅

Come along with us on today’s #traveltuesday which is all about PALERMO 🇮🇹

You're going to notice a big trend in today's video... which is that we ate A LOT of pasta. 🍝

This was definitely a jam-packed week. We checked out the Cathedral of Palermo, went to one of the markets, ate at a plethora of restaurants, and even took a day trip to a nearby town named Cefalù, which is where they filmed Indiana Jones 5!

Best of the Best in Palermo so far:
☼ Best Pizza: Torquemada (Blu Mountain sub tomato sauce with stuffed crust)
☼ Best Pasta: Pastando (Amitricana or Cacio e Pepe with Paccheri Pasta)
☼ Best Wine: Pastando (Castelluccimiano Miane Bianco 2019)
☼ Best Matcha Latte: Vera Coffice Break (iced, sub soy milk)

Save this post for these word-of-mouth recs ALONE ⬆️ Palermo has so many hidden gems!

Which one looks the best to you? 😍

You guys know I love finding obscure Disney connections around the world... and Athens shockingly had one of my favorites! ♥️♣️♦️♠️

It was called "Little Kook” and let me tell ya... IT WAS KOOKY, that’s for sure! 🤪

It was like Alice in Wonderland absolutely EXPLODED all over this cafe and in the streets. There were so many familiar faces like Alice herself, the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, the Playing Cards, etc! It was wild to say the least - moreso impressive than anything! 🤯

And their menu was extensive too - tons of desserts and sweets that would make you feel madder than the Mad Hatter! ☕️🎂 I ordered the blueberry lemon cake (because it was my unbirthday… duh!) and it was gigantic and DELICIOUS! 🫐

What do we think, Disney fans? Is this somewhere you would want to visit? 🤩

😩 It had everything in it too - my passport, my AirPods, my camera, cash, and wallet. 🌞 This is the first time anything like this has happened in our many months of traveling, so I'm SUPER thankful it turned out okay.

Now that I’m physically in Italy… let’s start posting about GREECE 🤣🇬🇷

Our nomad life "home base" for Greece was Athens! I’ve heard mixed things about Athens and truth be told, I ended up having mixed feelings about this city myself! Some things I've loved and others I was underwhelmed by!

Here's my Pros and Cons list for Athens, Greece:

Pros:
- Getting to see the Acropolis in person was absolutely surreal, the pillars are so beautifully crafted
- I got to reunite with some old faves here like Starbucks and Sephora, that weren't in Croatia and/or the UK
- Athens is pretty affordable. Our least expensive Airbnb yet and very reasonably priced Ubers and restaurants
- They have a great metro system to get around the city
- Greek culture is wonderful
- There's an Airport here and a Ferry Port!
- GREEK FOOD!! Gyro sandwiches for daysss

Cons:
- It was SO HOT. Like 97 degrees daily.
- The traffic was super heavy and crazy... I felt like I was playing Frogger every time we crossed the street 😅
- I wouldn't feel safe walking around solo here in a lot of areas
- Not very clean
- There actually wasn't a ton to do compared to other cities we had been to! Once you saw the historical sights and ate at a few restaurants, that was pretty much it! (but lowkey that was a pro for me because I needed a good rest 🤣)

Would I return to Athens? Honestly, probably not on my own accord... maybe if we had a flight, ferry, or itinerary passing through.

But I loved the opportunities Athens gave us last month... reuniting with friends, seeing historical sights, a great affordable Airbnb, and being close enough to catch a Ferry to the Greek Islands! I’m grateful we got to experience it!

Have you ever been to Athens? What did you think?
